Description

Housing from an existing building in ruins. Placed in the heart of the city of Badalona (Barcelona ), right in the most consolidated part of the urban fabric, aging more than a hundred years old. The assignment was to design a house that would use up the maximum area buildable of the plot, with the limitation that the ground floor houses a workshop and could not be affected by the execution works.
Our proposal consists in respecting the existing and to take advantage from the centenary façade, from which we can wrap up the maximum buildable area to afterwards hollow out parts of the interior to let the light in. On the one hand the facade is pierced with steel frames that adapt the existing openings to the new needs. On the other hand, we work in section to transform the staircase that crosses the house into a light well that enriches the interior spaces.
